How massage therapy influenced my life and how I became one

Image
The first experience.... It was my grandmother the loving mother of my mom whom we call Lola who was responsible for making me feel how a body massage can heal a sick child. I was 10. I remember I was lying down in a floor mat, (back then we didn’t have a bed yet)   was very hot and lying over a burning mat (that was what I thought and how I felt)   and moaning because of a very high fever. I was literally having a nightmare because I even thought the windows in front of me were alternately opening and closing. My Lola who was sleeping in the same room with me and my sisters woke up and went to me. She gave me a tepid sponge bath and placed a cold compress over my forehead to lower my fever. After a while, I felt her caring hands working on the different parts of my body with an extracted coconut oil that she always have in handy. Still vivid in my memory was when she placed a thumb pressure (trigger point) on top of my forearm near the elbow, then she massaged it in circul

Tapping our Unlimited Potential

I believe every person in the world has the... ability and capacity to  learn anything and  everything  provided that person has a willing heart to do whatever it takes to achieve what he or she really wants to accomplish in life. Basically, we were first taught by our parents and by the people we grew up with during our growing years and that may include besides our parents.... our siblings  the family relatives  friends of both of our parents  and caregivers if we have any  Then we go to school and we started learning a lot of things. It was where we were taught.... how to write read  draw  dance   sing  and mingle to say the least  All of these were possible with the help of our teachers and classmates and other significant people whom in one way or another have helped us during this stage of growth and development. Depending on how we were raised and how well our teachers or mentors and everyone we've met along the way has taught us, w

The above quote is really true....  I've hurt many people in my life and it hurt me to have hurt them.  But... I've been hurt by so many people as well. Family... Relatives... Friends... Colleagues...  Even strangers. Hurting someone can be done in a lot of ways... it can be physical or emotional. When I was growing up, I was hurt physically but I was especially hurt emotionally.  Hurtful words... blaming... threatening... belittling...  and swearing.... I've done all of it... because it was also done to me.  When we are provoked one way or another.... we get angry... we answer back..  we retaliate back...  we fight back...  Sometimes... it can even lead to something really unpleasant...  something really bad.... or worst.  but something we regret too ... right away.... eventually.... or... maybe...not at all. But... we say...  We are only humans... We have emoti

How do you welcome change?

with a smile or being sad? “Change is the only constant in life” - Heraclitus Who would argue to that? I don't..why? because I was once a “cute” little baby and now...well never mind. LOL Seriously though, all of us have undergone changes whether it's physical, environment, situations or any other things in life , change is inevitable. The earth for that matter is undergoing constant changes. I just hope it doesn't fall apart. My life has gone into a lot of changes since I went to the Netherlands to join my husband in 2009. Ton and I were married in August 17, 2007 which reminded me that we will be celebrating our 10 th year anniversary soon. Wow. Looking back from the almost 8 years of my life here it was like a roller coaster. There were ups and downs but most of all I've survived it all. I got the feel of the country when I went here twice for vacation. It's a beautiful country, very organized and the people I've met so far were very n

Try to see the beauty in life

I have been jotting notes and ideas almost everyday. Experts say this is the best way to remember or retain those ideas that mostly popped up while you're busy doing something or other times when you are taking a shower. What I am going to write today applies to all of us who sometimes undergoes trials, sufferings, predicaments or difficult situations and sometimes don't know what to do or having difficulty facing these problems. I was about to take a shower before going to my salon this morning and suddenly it just popped up out of my brain and I had to write it. Try to see the beauty in life. Do not focus on things undesirable, situations that makes you sad. Things of the past that makes you unhappy. Look around you. The people you love. The place you live in. And every material things you have. You have more than enough to be happy and thankful. If you are struggling with something like sickness, a loss of a loved one, a broken relationship, a disability
